  ALERT
ALERTS!

CalSupport 2008 has new 2007 tax tables for calculating support in 2008.

Earler versions are now obsolete! Results calculated by older programs will
not be current and accurate in 2008 and reports generated by earlier versions will not be accepted in court.

Certification Letter. CalSupport is certified by the Judicial Council through March 31, 2009. Per Rule of Court 5.275(j), it must be accepted in all California courts. This letter can be attached to Bench Reports when filed in court. Come back for a current letter shortly before the old one expires. The Judicial Council is often slow, so it might come later.

Subtotal updates fixed. Subtotals on the Gross Income, Authorized Deductions, Discretionary Deductions and Shared Costs screens now reflect entries immediately.

Screen 9, item 2c fixed. The "no spousal support option" is now connected and works correctly.

Screen 6, item 1. Filing status options corrected.

New installations. When installed on a machine that had never before had CalSupport on it, the program would put up an incorrect information screen, a minor error that has been fixed.

Minor tweak trying to fix a display flaw reported by the occasional user that we can't duplicate on any or our numerous machines.

Fixed minor graphical glitches. A few of the popup dialogs had text floating up into the pretty header bar. Can't have that, can we? They're fixed now. From 1.0 to present, there has never been any compromise of our reliable computational engine.

Screen 1. The [Time Chart] button incorrectly pointed to the timeshare help file. This now brings up the Timeshare Chart.

Cosmetic improvements. Splash screens and dialogs now better match the new interface.

New tax tables. CalSupport has the latest 2007 tax tables and rules for cases calculated in 2008.

Snappy new look. CalSupport has a new interface—hope you like it. The input screens are otherwise more-or-less the same.

Foster children. CalSupport can now calculate support due for children in foster care, including mixed situations with children at home and in foster care. Last we looked, other certified programs couldn't handle that correctly.

Updated help files. CalSupport help files have been updated, improved, and are now compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2000, and NT.

Allocation of child support. In cases where more than one child has the same timeshare, CalSupport reports allocation. In version 1.4, this got broken, but is now fixed.

Multiple births on same date. In case of twins or triplets, etc., if one birthday was changed then changed back, this would cause a problem that has now been corrected. If you experience this kind of problem, update to version 1.4 then change the childrens' birthdates, then change them back again and it will clear.

Allocating support for twins, triplets, etc. Fixed so that CalSupport now correctly handles cases where children born on the same day also have the same timeshare and thus need to have allocation of support shown on the bench report. The problem only occured when using the timeshare worksheet.

Corrected social security info. The glossary item for social security income was corrected to read:

Social Security income: Income from Social Security may be for dependent children, retirement, disability, supplemental security income, or any combination of these. Each kind of Social Security income is treated differently:

      1. Income for dependent children is not included in the child support calculation.

      2. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is not taxable and is entered as tax-free income at Screen 2, item 7.

      3. Retirement income and disability income are partially taxable and are entered at Screen 2, item 6.

Screen 2, item 6 was reworded to include both Social Security retirement and disability income.

Bench report printing error. After seven months, someone finally found a minor error in the printing of the Bench Report. When doing a calculation for spousal support only, no kids, CalSupport would in some situations print a child support allocation on the Bench Report. This was a printing error and did not affect any calculation.

New 2006 tax tables and rules for calculations run in 2007. Calculations run with older programs will not be accurate or accpeted in court.

Corrected URL for online registration to our new secure site.

CalSupport Tracker information added to Screen 10, Help menu and Help files.

Corrected a minor printing error on the Schedule A tax report where line 4 printed the father’s information in the mother’s field. The calculations were correct; this was a printing error only.

Updated the Help file to reflect changes in entry dialogs for items such as the Alternative Minimum Tax.
